The Rim Collection
Where precision meets spontaneity in every curve.
Concept
Designed and handcrafted a six-piece dessert plate collection to elevate the serving experience, blending planned precision with spontaneous form-making techniques. Each plate shares a unifying visual language that emphasizes its rim—three with smooth, rounded half-moon edges and three with rim shapes altered through a mix of deliberate design and organic, improvised modifications. Finished with an off-white glaze and deep teal accents applied through both intentional patterning and improvisational glazing methods, the collection balances refinement and playfulness, resulting in elegant serving ware that also stands as a visually cohesive, collectible series.

Process
Form Exploration
Created variations of rim treatments, from meticulously planned floral-like contours to spontaneous, freeform distortions.
Color & Finish
Applied an off-white glaze as a base, then added deep teal accents through both controlled brushwork and organic, unpredictable flows.
Functional Aesthetics
Designed each piece with a dual focus: to present desserts beautifully and to stand alone as an art object.
Outcome
The result is a cohesive yet diverse set that captures the joy of indulgence—plates that feel as special as the desserts they hold. The collection embodies the creative tension between structure and spontaneity, making it equally suited for a fine dining setting or a high-end lifestyle brand’s product line.
